Alfonzo Dennard, NFL Draft 2012: Nebraska CB Looks To Follow In Teammates Footsteps

Nebraska Cornhuskers cornerback Alfonzo Dennard will enter the 2012 NFL draft as one of the top defensive back prospects.

Nebraska senior cornerback Alfonzo Dennard is getting ready to head to the NFL Draft. The cornerback has been a starter for the Cornhuskers since mid-way through the 2009 season and expects to be a first round pick in the upcoming draft. Dennard played opposite Prince Amukamura, who was a first round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft by the New York Giants.

Here is what Mocking The Draft had to say about Alfonzo Dennard:

Dennard has been a starter since midway through the 2009 season but really came on as a junior. He finished last season with four interceptions and seven pass breakups while starting 13 games. Dennard is an all-around cornerback who plays the run well, when asked. Dennard strongly considered going pro following his junior season, but his mother urged him to return to school. That will allow Dennard to get his sociology degree.
