As expected, Wisconsin offensive lineman Peter Konz declared for the 2012 NFL Draft, the school announced on Tuesday (via ESPN). It's not hard to see why Konz decided to skip his senior year. Many draft analysts have him ranked as one of the top interior lineman in the draft and he's widely believed to be picked in the first round.
His coach noted that was a major factor in the decision.
"I knew when we received the information back from the NFL that Pete would have a tough decision ahead of him," Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema said. "He has been one of the most enjoyable players I have had the pleasure to coach. I know being a Badger meant the world to him and his family."
In SB Nation's latest mock draft, Ryan Van Bibber has him going to the Chicago Bears at No. 19. Mocking the draft has Konz ranked as the 17th best overall prospect and as the top center. Other teams that could be interested in Konz include the Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots.
