Nick Toon has been one of the best wide receivers in the Big Ten over the past few seasons, but the former Wisconsin Badgers wide receiver might not be able to show NFL decision makers that he has what it takes to replicate such success as a professional. It isn't because he doesn't want to, of course, but a foot injury is apparently causing too much pain to allow him to participate in the 2012 NFL Combine.
Toon has been touted as a possible second round selection, but Draft Insider indicates that he likely won't be able to move up draft boards with a strong showing at the combine due to a foot injury.
- Sources tell me the recent injury, or re-injury. to the foot of Nick Toon/WR/Wisconsin, continues to be an issue. Evidently in recent training for the combine, specifically when working on starts for the forty, Toon was experiencing significant foot pain. Everyone we've spoke with say its unlikely the Wisconsin receiver runs at the combine.
It's unfortunate for Toon if he is unable to compete considering he re-injured the foot practicing for the event, but there's always a chance he's able to recover in time for the Combine.
