The 2012 NFL Draft is fast approaching and the 30 pro teams need to begin solidifying their plans for the first round. Alabama Crimson tide running back Trent Richardson is a name that is getting a lot of renewed interest following his strong Pro Day performance on Thursday. One of the teams that appears most interested in Richardson as a potential first-round pick is the Cleveland Browns.
According to Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland, Browns general manager Tom Heckert and coach Pat Shurmur had the option of splitting up and attending the Pro Days of both Texas A&M Aggies quarterback Ryan Tannehill and Richardson, but instead opted to both attend Alabama's Pro Day to watch the Richardson workout.
Asked directly if Richardson is under consideration for the No. 4 pick, Shurmur said this week at NFL meetings, "I'm not going to talk about my five guys (in the running). He is an outstanding player ... he's been very productive on a team that's won a lot of games."
In just a few weeks, we will find out just how much Richardson was able to impress the Browns representatives with his workout.
