Cornerback Janoris Jenkins was one of the top cornerbacks in the country when he was dismissed from the Florida Gators following three arrests, including one for marijuana possession. He wound up at North Alabama and attempted to redeem himself by straightening out his personal issues. However, as Jenkins prepares to enter next week's 2012 NFL Draft, Jenkins is still confronted with rumors regarding marijuana use at North Alabama.
Aaron Wilson of Scout.com spoke with Jenkins via phone interview and discussed the allegations about his continued drug use.
"I wasn't smoking marijuana at North Alabama. If anybody wants to know, they can give my coaches a call. I wasn't partying. They've been saying a lot of things about me that aren't true without getting my side of the story. It's been a humbling experience.
"You've got to be a man, you've got to be honest and straightforward. I've matured. My past is my past. People can judge me for how far I've come. I want to know why all of a sudden this is out there about me. Why didn't it come out after the combine when I was straightforward with the scouts? The timing is very interesting to me."
Jenkins' defensive coordinator at North Alabama confirms Jenkins' story, stating that Jenkins passed three random drug tests while at the school.
