With the 31st pick in the first round of the 2012 NFL draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Boise St. Broncos running back Doug Martin. Martin is the 44th-ranked prospect and the fourth-rated running back, according to Mocking the Draft's rankings. The Bucs traded up to the 31st selection, swapping picks with the Denver Broncos to come up and get Martin.
Martin was a two-year starter for the Broncos. He ran for 1,299 yards and 16 touchdowns in his senior season at Boise State. Here's what Mocking the Draft had to say about Martin before the NFL draft:
Martin is outstanding attacking the outside and more than capable with his strength to run inside. Overall, Martin has the talents to be a productive professional in the NFL and would be great in a dual backfield role.
