With the 19th pick in the first round of the 2012 NFL draft, the Chicago Bears selected Boise St. Broncos defensive end/outside linebacker Shea McClellin. McClellin is the eighth-rated defensive end and No. 57 overall prospect in the draft, according to Mocking the Draft's rankings.
McClellin was a three-year starter for the Broncos, with his production picking up significantly from his sophomore to his junior year. He carried that over to his senior year and had another consistent season while playing multiple roles in Boise State's defense. Here's what Mocking the Draft had to say about McClellin before the draft:
McClellin has a chance to sneak into the first round and makes a lot of sense for a team that plays 3-4 defense. He gets after the passer well and is a safe pick due to his consistently high motor. McClellin was very productive in some of Boise State's biggest games last season, which is a great sign moving forward.
