With the 61st pick in SB Nation's 2012 NFL mock draft, the San Francisco 49ers select Miami (OH) G Brandon Brooks.
Brooks wasn't invited to the NFL Combine, which some feel was a mistake. If he ends up getting picked in the second round, then it was definitely a mistake. The 49ers keep adding to their already strong offensive line.
SB Nation's Niners Nation explains the pick:
The 49ers enter the NFL Draft looking primarily to fill depth needs at wide receiver, safety and along the defensive line. However, there is the possibility that they will be looking for a starter at right guard. They traded up in the fifth round for Daniel Kilgore last season, and he spent most of the season on the sideline, learning the ropes. The 49ers need at guard will depend primarily on what they expect out of Kilgore in his second year. They have no qualms bringing in somebody to compete for the job, and they could go early on if they think the draft pick or Kilgore could eventually also transition over to the center position. Kevin Zeitler and Amini Silatolu are the two names at the top of the draft board, but Brandon Brooks could be an interesting prospect for the 49ers interior line.
