The Dallas Cowboys reportedly have a set plan in mind for the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft on Thursday. They are reportedly very high on Alabama safety Mark Barron, but if their target is off the board by the time their No. 14 selection rolls around, they could be trading down to grab a different target.
Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas reports that the Cowboys would look to pick up Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Dont'a Hightower if they miss out on Barron.
If Barron and other targets are gone, Jerry Jones could attempt to trade down, gaining extra picks to move toward the bottom of the first round. In that scenario, there is a strong possibility that the Cowboys could target the fourth potential first-round pick from the Crimson Tide's top-ranked, national-title defense: linebacker Dont'a Hightower.
These reports seem to indicate that the Cowboys will be looking to beef up their defense any way they can.
