It has been known for some time now that the No. 1 pick in Thursday's 2012 NFL draft will be Andrew Luck. It has also been assumed, ever since they traded up to secure the draft's No. 2 overall selection, that the Washington Redskins would pick former Baylor Bears quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III.
Mike Florio at ProFootballTalk reports that Redskins general manager Bruce Allen confirmed Thursday on the NFL Network's "2012 NFL Draft Kickoff Show" that Griffin will go to the Redskins at No. 2.
"[W]e think that Robert fits our offense to a tee," Allen said. "We’re excited about being able to complement him with what we’ve already been able to do with some of his special talents. Obviously his charisma is going to be embraced by the Redskins Nation."
Now that this officially puts to rest the speculation about Luck and Griffin, the attention can firmly turn to the rest of the field.
