With the No. 8 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins selected Texas A&M Aggies quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill is the third-rated quarterback and the 22nd overall prospect in the draft, according to Mocking The Draft's rankings.
Tannehill has just over one year of experience as a starting quarterback in college. He played as a wide receiver before making the move for Mike Sherman's Aggies. Here's what Mocking The Draft had to say about Tannehill before the draft.
One of the best ways for me to describe him is; there's not a lot of things Tannehill can't do. He should excel in a west coast offense that includes short and intermediate timing routes when dropping back from under center; and a lot of play-action passes that involve roll-outs and bootlegs which get Tannehill on the move and make the most of his athleticism. He has a natural ability to extend the play, which not many other quarterbacks have coming out of college.
