Dolphins GM: Ryan Tannehill Not Far Behind Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III

In the month between the Texas A&M Aggies pro day and the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft on Thursday, the stock for quarterback Ryan Tannehill shot straight through the roof. Tannehill was unable to perform in the 2012 NFL Combine due to a broken foot, but knocked the socks off team scouts at his pro day workout. As a result of the sudden buzz, Tannehill became the third quarterback to be drafted, going as the No. 8 overall pick to the Miami Dolphins.

According to Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post, Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland feels Tannehill stacks up just fine against the top two QBs in the draft, Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III.

"If had we eight to 10 more games of film to watch Ryan Tannehill play that position, I think we're looking at him in the same breath as Griffin and maybe Luck," Ireland said. "I think he's got that kind of ability and arm talent."

Many evaluators questioned the move, feeling that Tannehill lacks the experience and raw talent needed to last and succeed as a starter in the NFL. Only time will tell whether Ireland's assessment is accurate.
