Janoris Jenkins To Patriots Is 'Not Going To Happen'

Stay connected with SB Nation

Janoris Jenkins is one of the more intriguing prospects of the 2012 NFL Draft. The North Alabama cornerback is an elite talent at his position, but has a long checkered past that includes misconduct that got him kicked off the Florida Gators under then-head coach Urban Meyer. That baggage is apparently too much for some teams to handle, including the New England Patriots, according to Shalise Young of the Boston Globe.

Jenkins was rated as the third best prospect at his position, behind only Morris Claiborne and Dre Kirkpatrick, according to the SB Nation blog Mocking the Draft. He will be a tempting pickup for some team, perhaps in the 2nd round. Meanwhile, the Pats still need help in the secondary. They could take a look at Oklahoma's Jamell Fleming, UCF's Josh Robinson or Nebraska's Alfonzo Dennard to help fill the void.
