With the 68th overall pick in the 3rd round of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans have selected wide receiver DeVier Posey from the Ohio State Buckeyes. Posey was generally regarded as a Day 3 selection heading into the draft because of the time that he missed in 2011 due to suspension, but he was very productive in his sophomore and junior seasons.
Posey played just four games, making just 12 receptions in 2011. As a junior in 2010, he caught 52 balls for 848 yards and seven touchdowns. He was one of many Buckeyes involved in the improper benefits scandal at the university, which hurt his playing time and eventually, his draft stock, but the Texans obviously think enough of his upside that they spent an early 3rd round pick on him.
Posey joins first rounder DE Whitney Mercilus on the Texans.
