The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Miami linebacker Sean Spence with the 23rd pick, 86th overall, in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Pittsburgh's prior picks were both offensive linemen. They took guard David DeCastro in the first round and tackle Mike Adams in the second.
With the 24th pick in the third round, 87th overall, the Cleveland Browns added Cincinnati defensive tackle John Hughes. The Browns traded up to the third pick in the first round, and picked running back Trent Richardson. With the 22nd pick in that round, the Browns opted for quarterback Brandon Weeden. In the second round, Cleveland drafted Mitchell Schwartz, an offensive tackle from California.
In the 25th spot in the third round, 88th overall, the Philadelphia Eagles selected Arizona quarterback Nick Foles. In the first round, the Eagles drafted defensive tackle Fletcher Cox. Philly had two picks in the second round and used those for linebacker Mychal Kendricks and defensive end Vinny Curry.
