The usually talent-soaked Florida Gators had just two players drafted in 2012, Jaye Howard and Chris Rainey, and both went in the 2012 NFL Draft's final day. Now, Deonte Thompson and William Green have joined quarterback John Brantley in signing undrafted free agent deals.
Thompson, who never lived up to his promise as a go-to receiver with Florida, will follow Brantley to Baltimore, according to The Gainesville Sun's Robbie Andreu. The Ravens have a history with Florida wide receivers, having featured Travis Taylor for a few years in the early 2000s, and Thompson will join a receiving corps that has very little definition beyond Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith.
Green, meanwhile, tweeted that he had joined the Cleveland Browns. A serviceable, rarely showy defensive end, Green will have to rely on his work ethic in battling for a roster spot in Cleveland. If he survives the cuts, he'll join his former Gators teammate Joe Haden on the Browns' roster.
