Vontaze Burfict was known during his years at Arizona State as a relentless player who had trouble containing his play to the moments between the whistles. He'll get his first shot at an NFL career with a team that has long been the butt of jokes because of its players' inability to get all of their kicks on the field, having reportedly signed a deal with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent.
Burfict was a five-star recruit, and appeared to be making good on that promise in his sophomore season with the Sun Devils, making 90 tackles and being named a first-team All-American by the Sporting News. But Burfict's production dropped in his junior season -- he had just 69 total tackles -- and his comportment became his dominant storyline in the run-up to the NFL Draft, leading every team to pass on a player who seemed like a first-round talent at this time last year.
