The Chicago Bears are one of the teams who often sign their draft picks earlier than other teams. Thanks to the NFL's rookie wage scale, the Bears and the rest of the NFL are getting an early start on signing draft picks. The Bears on Friday agreed to terms with Shea McClellin, their first round pick.
McClellin comes from Boise State and his value in Chicago will be based on his versatility and ability to play multiple positions in the Bears defense. He was generally viewed as a late 1st round prospect.
The Bears rookie minicamp starts on Friday and will continue through Sunday. All the rookies will be there regardless of their contract situation. The minicamp will be the first time the Bears rookie class is on the field with the coaching staff.
The Bears have already agreed to terms with a number of other draft picks.
