The Cincinnati Bengals signed 1st-round pick Dre Kirkpatrick, the sixth draft pick to sign with the team. The Bengals announced the news on Friday via Twitter.
Kirkpatrick, a cornerback from Alabama, was the 17th overall pick and one of two players selected by Cincinnati in the 1st round. The Bengals received the 17th pick from Oakland as part of the Carson Palmer trade.
Terms of Kirkpatrick's deal were not announced. The new collective bargaining agreement lays out a standardized slotting system for rookie pay, which should put Kirkpatrick's deal somewhere between $8.5 million and $8.7 million over four years. Teams have now signed roughly 150 draft picks in quick order because the new rookie pay structure has eliminated most of the negotiation.
Guard Kevin Zeitler, the Bengals' other 1st-round pick, remains unsigned.
Kirkpatrick was the third cornerback selected in the draft. A three-year starter at Alabama, the rangy corner should start opposite Nate Clements this season.
