The Cincinnati Bengals announced on Friday that the team had agreed to terms with offensive guard Kevin Zeitler. Terms of the deal were not announced.
Cincinnati used the 27th pick in the 1st round of the 2012 NFL Draft to select Zeitler. A highly regarded prospect from Wisconsin, he is likely to start at right guard for the Bengals this season. In fact, Zeitler has already been taking reps with the first team in spring OTAs.
Zeitler's signing comes a week after the team signed cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick, their other 1st-round pick. Zeitler's deal leaves just two Bengals' draft picks unsigned, 3rd-rounders WR Mohamed Sanu and DT Brandon Thompson.
Teams have been signing draft picks at a feverish pace in the weeks since the draft. The new rookie salary system agreed to in the 2011 collective bargaining agreement has eliminated most of the negotiations that used to go into signing 1st-round picks.
