The St. Louis Rams signed rookie running back Isaiah Pead on Wednesday, Pead announced via Twitter. Terms of the deal for the 2012 NFL Draft 2nd Round pick were not revealed. All that is known at this point is that the Cincinnati product is apparently pretty happy.

Pead has yet to participate in Rams OTAs due to an NFL rule stipulating that rookies cannot take part until after their colleges have finished up final examinations. In the meantime, he says he is working to "get smarter" before he takes the field.
Pead rushed for 1,259 yards last season for the Bearcats, scoring 15 total touchdowns while averaging 5.3 yards per carry. His versatility as a runner and as a pass catcher (he caught 87 passes in four seasons at Cincinnati) should serve him well as a complement to veteran Steven Jackson.
