Buccaneers Sign Mark Barron

Stay connected with SB Nation

Rookie safety Mark Barron has signed a four-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers worth $5.5 million plus a $8.91 million signing bonus, according to reports. Pro Football Talk notes that Barron's contract contains no offset language, meaning he is fully guaranteed his money if the Bucs don't pick up his fifth-year team option.

Barron was selected with the No. 7 overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft this past April after earning All-American honors with the Alabama Crimson Tide in his last two seasons.

So far, this year's top draft picks have done a good job avoiding offset language. Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Barron and No. 9 overall pick Luke Kuechly have all managed to bypass the issue.
