D'Qwell Jackson Gets $42.5 Million From Browns, According To Report

Linebacker D'Qwell Jackson has re-signed with the Cleveland Browns, a deal the Cleveland Plain-Dealer is reporting to be worth $42.5 million over five years. Jackson was coming off a season in which he set career highs in tackles (158), sacks (3.5) and fumble recoveries (3). Re-signing Jackson was probably the biggest item on the Browns' offseason to-do list.

"Dqwell is thrilled with the deal," said his agent Brian Mackler. "He wanted to finish his career in Cleveland and this enables him to do that."

The Browns were reportedly ready to slap the Franchise Tag on Jackson after the 28-year-old bounced back from missing most of the past two seasons with separate pectoral muscle injuries. Jackson played all 16 games for just the second time in his six-year career and improved on his previous best season, 2008. His 158 tackles were the most in the AFC and the second most in the NFL.
