The Tampa Bay Buccaneers entered the 2012 NFL free agency period with $44.9 million in salary cap space, more than any other team in the league. They're not wasting any time spending it. After reaching five-year deals with Vincent Jackson and Eric Wright, the Bucs have inked Carl Nicks.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, it's a five-year deal worth $47.5 million with $31 million guaranteed.
Nicks previously said he wanted to be the highest paid guard in the NFL which meant he needed to break Logan Mankins $8.5 million per year average. He did that with this deal, an average of $9.5 million per year.
The Bucs are the early winners of free agency (even if you don't really "win" free agency). It's clear their offense was a priority and by adding Jackson and Nicks they've gotten a lot better in the last 24 hours.
