The New York Jets reportedly gave Bart Scott permission to seek a trade back in February, but he won't be going anywhere. Whether it's because no one wanted to take on Scott's contract or because the Jets had a change of heart, Scott will be staying with the team in 2012.
Rex Ryan told reporters today that Bart Scott will remain with the club. They would like him to shed weight, though.

Scott is 32-years-old and was never a particularly fast player. He was paid for more than he produced last season, and even though he's aging and presumably not in great shape, he will be expected to produce more in 2012. There are three years remaining on Scott's contract, so it's not cost-effective for the team to release him. That could change next year, however, and he will have to improve if he wants to finish the contract that pays him $4.2 million this season.
