There are about a half-dozen teams people often mention when talking about Peyton Manning in free agency. The Dolphins and Redskins, of course, are two of them, but also mentioned are the Jets. Manning has been a free agent for only a couple of hours now and we have our first report that the Jets have contacted Manning's camp. Via NY Daily News:
How about this: The Jets have inquired about Peyton Manning's interest in playing for them, according to a source.
Manning is obviously an upgrade over Mark Sanchez. The Jets missed the playoffs for the first time in Rex Ryan's three-year tenure as head coach last year. There have been reports for weeks now that the Jets will be among the teams expressing interest in Manning.
Peyton's brother, Eli, plays in the same city. You have to wonder how that factors into it; would they prefer to play in different cities or is New York an option?
The Broncos are another team that's sending out feelers on Manning's interest.
