Super Bowl 2012: Late Game Heroics The Difference For Manning, Giants In Week 9 Victory

While the New York Giants dramatic 17-14 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII will undoubtedly be the center of conversation over the next two weeks, Super Bowl XLVI is also a rematch of a 24-20 Giants victory in Week 9 of the regular season.

The game was dominated by the defenses, as neither team scored in the first half.

However, the points came fast and furious in the fourth quarter, with both QB's finding their rhythm in the no-huddle offense.

Manning's 10-yard TD pass to Mario Manningham gave the Giants a 17-13 lead with 3:03 left. However, Tom Brady quickly marched the Patriots down the field, re-gaining the lead with a 14-yard TD pass to Rob Gronkowski with 1:36 left.

That set up Manning for a dramatic last-minute victory in Foxborough, as he completed a 1-yard TD pass to Kyle Ballard in the last few seconds to win the game.

The win had New York riding high with a 6-2 record, setting up a bizarre roller-coaster finish where they were left for dead multiple times before another improbable ride to the Super Bowl.

New England, meanwhile, has not lost a game since the loss to the Giants, reeling off 10 straight victories to reach the Super Bowl for the fifth time in the Brady/Belichick era.
