Tom Coughlin Won't Retire After The Super Bowl

Stay connected with SB Nation

At 65 years old, Tom Coughlin is the oldest active head coach in the NFL. If his New York Giants happened to walk away from Super Bowl XLVI with a win over the New England Patriots and a second championship ring under his watch, it's unlikely anyone would begrudge him retiring a winner. The grandfatherly, occasionally curmudgeonly Coughlin apparently has no such plans, however.

Coughlin reportedly told Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com that he isn't even entertaining the idea of hanging up his cleats just yet.

"I feel good," Coughlin said "Retire to do what?"

He reiterated that he still loves the job that he does, and that his family, including his 10 grandchildren, offer much-needed reprieve when he needs it. Coughlin currently has one more year on his contract, and is all but assured a healthy extension for the Giants run to the Super Bowl after going 9-7 during the regular season.
