Read More: Antrel Rolle (S - NYG), New England Patriots, New York Giants
The two weeks between when conference championship games end and when the Super Bowl begins is one of the most aggravating periods of the season. In between the two games, we have the only weekend without any real football in over 20 weeks (the Pro Bowl doesn't count), and in the stead of an actual match there is only hype upon more hype for the game to come. On the other hand, the week off does give the players some extra time to rest, something the New York Giants are taking full advantage of. Here's Antrel Rolle:
"I'm not too antsy. This last stretch has been an exhausting one, a lot of hard work, you're just putting everything to the side for these five games, which was very much needed," Rolle said. "It took a lot of mental space, as well as physical pounding and doing whatever it took to get to this point. And you know, once we're here, we're not going to stop now. So I'm going to enjoy this little time off, and once we come back to work on Thursday, I will be ready and full speed. Like I said, it all starts in practice."
The Giants have now played elimination games in four consecutive weeks, counting their regular season finale against the Dallas Cowboys. If anybody is especially anxious to get on the field it might be the New England Patriots, who earned a first-round bye in the playoffs on the strength of their 13-3 regular season record.
