Rob Gronkowski Injury: Not Time For The Panic Button

Although the New York Giants and the New England Patriots did not practice Wednesday, they released "projected" injury reports for the day as if they had. Sticking out for the Patriots was a big fat "did not participate" for record-setting tight end Rob Gronkowski, who injured his ankle in last Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens. Greg Knopping over at Pats Pulpit says fans shouldn't go into crisis mode just yet.

I wouldn't look too much into this, as this is simply a "projected" report, and I wouldn't be totally surprised if Gronkowski was limited in participation tomorrow. Of course, the situation bears watching - I just wouldn't even come close to hitting the panic button yet. After all, it was just two days ago that multiple news outlets reported that Gronkowski would be playing in the Super Bowl.

The Pats listed 13 other players as "limited," though with so much time to rest it is still too early to call anybody's status for the 2012 Super Bowl in jeopardy. There may be a little more concern on the Giants' end, with Hakeem Nicks, Ahmad Bradshaw and Tyler Sash all earning "did not participate" designations. Defensive end Osi Umenyiora was listed as "limited" as well.
