Read More: Antrel Rolle (S - NYG), New England Patriots, New York Giants
Any Bill Belichick team will be frustratingly restrained to the media in all regards. Other than the occasional muted Tom Brady one-on-one with [insert ESPN reporter here], radio silence is the norm for the New England Patriots. In the other locker room, however, there are a few more vocal characters with guys like Justin Tuck. Both sides, in the lead up to sports' biggest night, are keeping it pretty quiet.
Boston sports network NESN was looking for bait Tuck and safety Antrel Rolle into providing some motivation for the Pats weren't very lucky:
How about safety Antrel Rolle? Did he have anything inflammatory to say?
"There's no need for that," Rolle reportedly said. "We're here to play the game and it's not about toning anything down. It's just about knowing where you are in the situation and understanding what's at stake. Honestly, there's nothing to be said."
Newsday's Barbara Barker was astounded at the decorum Belichick showed at the media sessions — a suit and tie! How exciting! — who was gushing over the time he and Giants head coach Tom Coughlin shared together as assistant coaches under Bill Parcells.
"We worked together every day in one-on-ones and seven-on-sevens," Belichick said. "I would run the coverages the way he wanted them run, based on who we were playing, and he would run the patterns the way I asked him. I would say that as an assistant coach, it was the best relationship that I have ever had with another counterpart."
Isn't it cute when they play nice? I know, it's not. Maybe tomorrow someone will make a "Yo Mama" joke and make things interesting.
