Super Bowl 2012: Jake Ballard Could Have Big Impact, Tom Coughlin Says

Jake Ballard didn't have a lot of hype heading into this year's NFL season, but that's changed for the New York Giants tight end heading into Super Bowl XLVI. In fact, according to Giants coach Tom Coughlin, his tight end is expected to have a "huge" impact on Sunday when his team faces the New England Patriots.

Ballard has just three catches for 33 total yards in the Giants first three playoff games as he's seemingly slowed down following a Week 15 injury, but that's expected to change this weekend. Coughlin talked to the New York Post about his expectations for Ballard on Sunday:

"Huge," Coughlin said of Ballard's impact. "Jake's feeling better. He's been a big part of what we do. He received an injury, fought his way through the injury. He is maneuvering better, playing better. That being that case, Eli has a lot of confidence in Jake."

That said, it's likely Ballard eclipses his entire playoff performance to this point in just one game when the Patriots and Giants meet in Indianapolis.
