Rob Gronkowski Had Ankle Surgery, According To Report

One of the top stories entering Super Bowl XLVI was the status of injured New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, who suffered a high ankle sprain in the AFC Championship game. Because of the two week wait between the Championship games and the Super Bowl, Gronkowski's ankle was talked about more than it probably needed to be.

And now that the season is over, we're back to talking about Gronkowski's ankle. According to Liz Mullen of Sports Business Journal, Gronkowski had arthroscopic surgery on his ankle Friday morning. Per Mullen, the recovery time is about two and a half months.

Because it's the offseason, the recovery timetable shouldn't be a big deal. He'll be limited during part of the Patriots offseason program but it sounds like he'll be ready to roll after the draft if all goes well.

He was held to just two receptions during the Super Bowl and the injury clearly affected him, even though he said it didn't.
