It's hard to imagine a Patriot taking the loss harder than Wes Welker. The waterbug wideout had a late and possibly game-sealing catch hit his hands and fall incomplete, and he was reportedly broken up about it in the Pats' locker room.
Wes Welker really broken up about the missed big play. "it's one I'll have to live with," he said, fighting back tears.
Tom Brady, whose throw to Welker wasn't as accurate as it could have been, and who spent much of the second half trying to find rhythm in the face of a ferocious Giants pass rush, is similarly distraught, with one reporter tweeting that he looked "completely catatonic" on his walk to the showers.
The Patriots played the 2011 NFL season with an "MHK" patch on their jerseys, a tribute to Myra Kraft, the late wife of Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Her portrait hanging in the New England locker room has no doubt contributed to the reportedly somber atmosphere.
