Carl Crawford Injury: Wrist Surgery Could Keep Sox Left Fielder Out In April

Carl Crawford had, if you squint, a bit of a rough season last year. He signed a big contract, was in the spotlight, and was mostly terrible. On the last day of the season, Crawford couldn't catch a ball that might have kept the Red Sox alive in the playoff hunt. It wasn't the best Red Sox debut in franchise history. Now he has some injury problems to contend with.

From Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston:

Crawford scoped for cartilage on left wrist; cherington expects return early in season

Maybe that's a bad thing (he had a down year, and now he's injured?), or maybe it's a good thing (a-ha! It was the wrist in the conservatory with a lead BABIP!). But it's certainly a thing that the Red Sox will have to deal with in the early part of next spring, and possibly into the start of the regular season.
