Greg Knapp Reportedly Offered Oakland Raiders OC Job

The Raiders have reportedly offered Texans quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp their offensive coordinator position.

Jan 31, 2012 - Houston Texans quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp has reportedly been offered the Oakland Raiders' offensive coordinator position, according to FOX Sports' Alex Marvez.

Two sources told FOXSports.com that the Raiders offered Knapp the same position that he held with them in 2007 and 2008. Knapp has been an offensive coordinator with the San Francisco 49ers (2001-03), Atlanta Falcons (2003-06) and Seattle Seahawks (2010).

New Raiders head coach Dennis Allen and Knapp worked together as assistants in Atlanta in 2004 and 2005.

Knapp did not have an easy season with the Texans; the team's starting quarterback, Matt Schaub, was placed on injured reserve before Thanksgiving with a foot injury. His replacement, Matt Leinart, did not last long in that position, injuring his shoulder in his first game as the starter.

Third-string T.J. Yates then helped Houston to its first-ever postseason appearance and victory over the Cincinnati Bengals before losing to the Baltimore Ravens.

I'm reading it official, Raiders hire Knapp.

Knapp has been OC with 3 teams and his offense never finished better than a bottom 10 offense. Looks like Allen is hiring his old buddies and not the best candidates for the job. Al Saunders has a better resume than Garb Knapp. Don’t get your hopes up for a good DC either. Allen’s top choice for DC Smith, Broncos LB coach was denied to talk to the Raiders about the DC job.
