The Chicago Cubs have issued a statement Friday morning on the allegations regarding Starlin Castro, via a tweet from CSN Chicago Cubs beat writer Patrick Mooney:
"We are aware that a police report was filed regarding an incident involving Starlin, but we have received limited information. While this is something we take very seriously, there is not enough information to make any further comment or take action at this time. We are hopeful when the facts are brought to light, Starlin will be cleared of any wrongdoing."
No charges have been filed against Castro, who has been out of the United States since a few days after the 2011 baseball season ended, spending the offseason in his home country, the Dominican Republic. The original report on these charges, from CBS Chicago and WBBM radio, indicates that Chicago police would like to talk to Castro about the allegations.
