Justin Rose is the winner of the 2012 Turkish Airlines World Golf Final after beating Lee Westwood in Friday's final
Justin Rose stands alone atop the 8-man field for the 2012 Turkish Airlines World Golf Final after defeating Lee Westwood in the finals on Friday in Belek, Turkey. Rose beat his Ryder Cup teammate and fellow Englishman with a 5-under 66 to win the $1.5 million purse.
Rose won all five of his matches en route to the title, including a Thursday win over Tiger Woods to set up Friday's title match. He birdied the opening hole Friday and led the rest of the way. Westwood got as close to a shot behind after birdying No. 16, but Rose clinched the win with a 20-foot birdie putt on No. 17. Rose had similar success on the 17th at the Ryder Cup to help the Europeans beat the Americans:
"The 17th green has been really good to me this week, as I holed my second shot there yesterday and, of course, the 17th at Medinah turned around my match against Phil," Rose said. "But you have to be pleased to go through this whole week after winning all my five matches."
