West Virginia vs. Texas Tech score: Red Raiders mounting a rout

The Mountaineers have found no life on Mars, as Texas Tech's defense has destroyed Geno Smith and company in Lubbock.

Hey guys! Geno Smith has more incompletions (15) than the Mountaineers have first downs (12)!

Clearly West Virginia, specifically the defense, has hit a wall in their inaugural run through the Big 12. Texas Tech has a stunning 35-7 lead, and Heisman-front-runner Smith is a human 19-for-34 for 175 yards and only one touchdown. Meanwhile, the conference's second-best passer, Seth Doege, is having a career day (21-for-30, 336 yards, four touchdowns and and interception) and leading Tech's 438 total yards in the first half.

Texas Tech hasn't done anything revolutionary against a WVU defense that's sub-100th nationally in most major categories. In fact, until a 53-yard touchdown run from SaDale Foster to close the half's scoring, almost all of the Red Raiders attack had been in the passing game:

It's worth noting that Texas Tech had the nation's best-overall defense entering last week's loss to Oklahoma, a mark that was thought to be an anomaly due to a soft early-season schedule. Perhaps not.
