CONCACAF World Cup 2014 Qualifying: O Canada, a draw qualifies you for the Hex

Canada and Honduras play for (likely) one spot in the Hex, while the United States require a draw to guarantee their progression to the next round of CONCACAF qualifying.

With one match left to play in the third round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying, only one team is locked into a hexagonal spot. That team is Mexico, who was locked into their place after just four games. The United States and Costa Rica, who were previously considered locks to make the hex, still have a bit of work to do.

The best viewing of the final round should include none of those teams, however. In San Pedro Sula, Honduras are in need of a victory to guarantee their progression to the next round. The 2010 World Cup participants were also expected to make the hex, but have been third best to Canada and Panama thus far. The Canucks guarantee themselves progression with a draw, and can still go through with a loss if Cuba pull off a miracle against Panama.

In Group A, the United States will progress if they grab a draw or win against an injury-riddled Guatemala side. A handshake draw is a very real possibility, as both teams will go through and eliminate Jamaica with one point apiece. However, at home against a decimated Guatemala defense, it would be stunning if the USMNT -- even given their current questionable form -- failed to come up with a win.
