Dwight Howard was back on the court and despite making his debut for the Los Angeles, the Lakers lost to the Kings 99-92 at home on Sunday night.
Dwight Howard appeared back to his interior-dominating self in his debut for the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center on Sunday night. Nevertheless, the Lakers could not top the Sacramento Kings, losing 99-92, to remain winless in the preseason.
It didn't take long for Howard to introduce his talent to the L.A. fans as he recorded a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds in 33 minutes. In the paint, Howard showed why he is a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year by swatting four shots.
Still, the Lakers center seemed to be dealing with some rust after sitting out with a surgically repaired back, committing four of Los Angeles' 22 turnovers in the game.
Kobe Bryant led the Lakers on offense with a game-high 21 points on 6-for-12 shooting. Kings center DeMarcus Cousins countered Howard with 16 points and six rebounds of his own.
The Lakers will look to break their six-game losing streak against the L.A. Clippers on Wednesday night.
