Club America vs. Chivas Guadalajara, 2012 Super Clasico: Halftime score 1-1, goals traded in entertaining match

Update: America 1-3 Chivas, final score.

Chivas Guadalajara and Club America can both be happy with their performances in the first half of the Super Clasico, and both will feel like they have the arsenal to go for the victory in the second half. Chivas stunned America with the opening goal at Estadio Azteca, but Juan Carlos Medina fired his club back into the match shortly afterwards, and it's tied up 1-1 at halftime.

Fabian's goal was practically gifted to Chivas when America fell asleep defensively on a throw-in. The home side had been on top for the majority of the game until they were caught out by the throw in the 35th minute. Fabian nodded in from inside the box, scoring in unorthodox fashion.

America's assertive play paid off with Medina's 41st minute equalizer, a fantastic finish into the top corner at the far post, from 12 yards. He faked out Luis Michel before placing the ball past the helpless goalkeeper to level the match.

It's been an unsurprisingly open affair thus far. If either team nets a go-ahead goal in the second half, they might want to move to solidify their midfield. At the moment, neither team looks like they have one.
