Ravens vs. Steelers 2012: Baltimore sneaks out tough win

Charles LeClaire-US PRESSWIRE

It didn't look pretty, but the Baltimore Ravens did enough to defeat their AFC North rival Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Baltimore Ravens didn't make it look easy, nor did they look impressive in topping the Pittsburgh Steelers 13-10 on Sunday night. Nevertheless, Baltimore fans can't complain about the gritty win, which gives the Ravens a two-game lead in the AFC North.

In many ways, the win for Baltimore is a microcosm of its season. The Ravens, while hanging lopsided victories against the Oakland Raiders and Cincinnati Bengals, have also needed to squeak out wins over the Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Chiefs.

Nevertheless, Baltimore has earned the second-best mark in the AFC with an 8-2 record, despite having some unresolved problems, according to Baltimore Beat Down:

It doesn't matter who the players are, these two teams always play physical and close games. There are so many concerns coming out of this game but regardless, the Ravens won and are still the #2 team in the AFC, record-wise.

Against the Steelers, defense and special teams bailed out the Ravens offense which managed only 200 total yards. Quarterback Joe Flacco threw for a mediocre 164 yards, while Ray Rice managed 40 rushing yards on 20 carries.

Ravens fans will hope for a better performance next week against the San Diego Chargers, but will be more than content with the ugly win over Pittsburgh.
