The New York Times has an excellent profile of Johnny Football that includes one eye-popping tidbit about his grandfather.

The New York Times has a lengthy profile of Johnny Manziel for your Saturday morning pleasure, and it would serve you well to check it out. We can't get enough of Johnny Football at the moment -- a byproduct of his exciting style and sudden charge towards the Heisman. Texas A&M has cannonballed into the SEC and made waves as a result, and Johnny Football has been a big part of the Aggies' superb year, which includes an upset of No. 1 Alabama.

We don't know everything, or anything really, about most redshirt freshmen, which means we're still in the discovery phase with Manziel. Adding intrigue is the fact that he's off-limits to the media, or has been for most of the year. And the more we learn, well ... the more interesting we realize Manziel is.

Take this, for example:

Yes, John Paul was a Manziel. Like his father, Big Paul, who claims he was the cockfighting world champion in 1983.

Within that New York Times profile is the tidbit above. Johnny Football's grandfather was the self-proclaimed cockfighting champion of the world in 1983 -- one of those claims one would make after a few too many beers.

Johnny Football is the most interesting quarterback in the world.
