Kentucky vs. Tennessee 2012 results: Vols earn 1st SEC win

The Tennessee Volunteers offense clicked in all facets in the their final game of the season as they earned a 37-17 win over the Kentucky Wildcats at home on Saturday afternoon.

From the start, quarterback Tyler Bray had little trouble driving Tennessee down the field, connecting for a 21-yard touchdown to Zach Rodgers just over two minutes into the game to set the tone. Bray added another score on a 42-yard pass to Justin Hunter to extend the Volunteers lead to 20-7 in the second quarter.

Kentucky responded on running back Jonathan George's 45-yard scamper for a touchdown nearly two minutes later to close the deficit. However, the Wildcats managed only a field goal in the second half while Bray tossed two more scores to put the game out of reach.

Along with an impressive effort in the passing game, Tennessee ran for 134 yards on the ground with a 5.1 yard-per-carry average. Neither team turned the ball over but Kentucky held a sizable advantage in time of possession, with the offense on the field for 34:26, compared to 21:53 for the Volunteers.

Tennessee ends the season with a 5-7 record and picks up its first win the SEC, while the Wildcats finish 2-10 and without a conference victory.

Box Score Hero: Tyler Bray led the Volunteers offense with 293 passing yards and four touchdowns to four different receivers.

But Did They Cover? Tennessee covered fairly comfortably as 14-point favorites.
