Ronald Martinez

Behind a fast start, the Los Angeles Lakers finally won a road game during the 2012-13 season. They toppled the Mavs 118-81.

The Los Angeles Lakers used a big first half to easily handle the Dallas Mavericks 118-81, and in the process earned their first victory away from Staples Center all year.

L.A. entered the game 0-4 on the road, but the Lakers outscored the Dirk Nowitzki-less Mavericks by 13 points in the first quarter and 14 in the second to enter halftime with a 65-38 advantage. Dallas was unable to mount much resistance in the second half, and Los Angeles rolled to its seventh victory of the season. Each team exited the contest with an even record of 7-7.

L.A. spread the scoring around to defeat Dallas. Metta World Peace and Kobe Bryant led the way, scoring 19 points apiece. Antawn Jamison also contributed 19 points while adding 15 rebounds. Dwight Howard (15), Pau Gasol (13) and Jodie Meeks (11) also reached double-figures for the Lakers.

Vince Carter (16) and Jae Crowder (15) were the high-scorers for Dallas.

The Lakers and Mavericks each have their next games on Tuesday. Los Angeles plays host to the Indiana Pacers while Dallas travels to Philadelphia to take on the 76ers.
