Breeders' Cup 2012 Juvenile Results: Shanghai Bobby by a nose

Harry How

Shanghai Bobby fought back along the rail to deny Capo Bastone in the 2012 Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita.

Shangahi Bobby broke fast from the gate and pressed the pace through quick fractions in the first half-mile. As the field entered the far turn, Shanghai Bobby powered to the lead by a couple of lengths before He's Had Enough and Capo Bastone make strong runs toward the leader inside the quarter pole. After giving up the lead, Shanghai Bobby found one more burst of energy to pass He's Had Enough along at the rail to win in a photo by a nose.

Shanghai Bobby is a 2-year-old colt by Harlan's Holiday out of a Orientate mare (Steelin'), trained by Todd Pletcher and ridden by Rosie Napravnik. With his victory in the Breeders' Cup, Shanghai Bobby is now a perfect 5-for-5 in his career.
