The Rams find themselves in the basement of the NFC West and a tough season gets no easier with a visit to the Bay Area.
Just a few weeks ago, the St. Louis Rams were sitting at 3-2 and looking like they could at least challenge for a playoff spot. That was before consecutive losses to the Miami Dolphins, the Green Bay Packers and a drubbing at the hands of the New England Patriots in London. They've had a week off after the game on the other side of the pond and are looking to upset the San Francisco 49ers who are currently riding a two game win streak.
Picking up a win over the 49ers will be tough for the Rams who have struggled offensively and are facing a dominant San Francisco defense. So who do the experts think will win this one? It's a pretty clear consensus with ESPN's experts and Yahoo's experts with both sites unanimously selecting the 49ers to win. But CBS Sports goes against the grain with an even 50-50 split of picks in this game.
A lot is at stake for both teams. A win helps keep the Rams in the playoff hunt while a loss for the 49ers and combined with a win for the Seattle Seahawks would give them just a half game lead in the NFC West.
