Chiefs quarterback Brady Quinn shared the somber scene at Arrowhead Stadium Saturday morning when he and his teammates learned of linebacker Jovan Belcher's death.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Brady Quinn shared the somber scene at Arrowhead Stadium with reporters, including Adam Teicher of The Kansas City Star, following the news of linebacker Jovan Belcher’s murder-suicide involving his girlfriend:

"I think everyone is just so shocked at what had taken place, being who it was and being what had happened. I think people are still trying to digest everything let alone think about playing a game. It’s tough to put into words."

Saturday morning Belcher shot and killed his girlfriend, 22-year-old Kasandra Perkins, before traveling to the Chiefs’ practice facility where he took his own life.

Quinn and his Kansas City teammates were told the news of Belcher’s murder-suicide at 9:30 Saturday morning. He said it was "obviously tough" for coach Romeo Crennel to share the news as he "really wasn’t able to finish talking" to the team.

After they learned of Belcher’s death, the Chiefs prayed together and "moved on," in Quinn’s words. He said what makes the situation most difficult is because "I keep thinking about what I could have done to stop this."

Kansas City’s match up Sunday with the Carolina Panthers will be played as scheduled. Neither the NFL Players Association nor the Chiefs objected to the game being played.
