Chiefs vs. Raiders 2012: Kansas City clinches last place

Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports

Sunday's loss to Oakland cemented a last place finish for Kansas City.

The good news is that the Kansas City Chiefs did not give up a touchdown on Sunday for the first time in a game since week five against Baltimore. Unfortunately, the Kansas City offense was shut out entirely as the Raiders earned a 15-0 win. It was the first time Kansas City was shut out in almost two years.

Sebastian Janikowski connected on five field goals for the Raiders and the loss clinches a last place finish in the AFC west for Kansas City:

There was nothing pretty about Sunday's game in Oakland. The Raiders and Chiefs are both bad. The Raiders were just less bad on this day. If you didn't watch the game, I'd recommend not going back and watching it. Could be hazardous to your health.

Kansas City could now be in line for the No. 1 pick in next April's NFL Draft. Kansas City and Jacksonville both have the league's worst record at 2-12, and everyone else in the league has at least four wins. Kansas City would have the edge over the Jaguars for the No. 1 pick because the Jags have a better record against the AFC.
